Baseball Picked to Finish First in CBI Conference Poll

The reigning Ivy League champion Princeton baseball team was voted to finish first in the CollegeBaseballInsider.com Preseason Conference Poll announced Tuesday. The Tigers, who went 23-24 overall, 15-6 Ivy League last season, capped off the year by earning a bid into the NCAA Baseball Championships for the 11th time in program history.
The poll also tabbed Matt Bowman and Mike Ford as two of the league's top starting pitchers, while A.J. Goetz was voted the top closer. Sam Mulroy took top catching honors, as the best defensive catcher and best arm.
The Tigers currently are preparing to kick off the 2012 campaign, with opening day slated for Friday, Mar. 2 at Florida Atlantic. Princeton will face the Owls in a four-game weekend series in Boca Raton, Fla. The Tigers will open up the home half of the schedule with a double header versus Dartmouth on Saturday, Mar. 31 to open up a four-game home stand.
