Baseball Falls 6-1 to No. 2 South Carolina

Despite four even paced innings to open the game, it was the No. 2 South Carolina Gamecocks who jumped out in the fifth and handed the Princeton baseball team a 6-1 loss.
USC's Christian Walker hit a one out RBI double to give South Carolina an early 1-0 lead in the top of the first. Princeton responded the following inning to equalize the game 1-1. Steve Harrington hit a one out single to left center and was advanced to third off of Tyler Servais' double to right field. Harrington, who went 2-for-4 in the game, was brought home off Nate Baird's RBI groundout.
In the third and fourth innings, both teams were unable to advance a runner past second. USC managed to find an offensive surge in the fifth to take control of the game, as the Gamecocks added five runs between the fifth and eighth innings.
South Carolina held the hitting advantage 12-6.
Princeton (2-4) concludes its three-game series at USC (12-1) on Sunday at 1 p.m.
