March 15, 2012 | Baseball
The Princeton baseball team will open up its spring trip with a three-game series at Richmond from Mar. 16-18 in Richmond, Va. The series against the Spiders (11-4) kicks off the Tigers nine-game road swing in 10 days.
Schedule:Friday, Mar. 16 - 3 p.m.
Saturday, Mar. 17 - 2 p.m.
Sunday, Mar. 18 - 1 p.m.
Last Time Out: The Tigers (2-5) played competitively with then-No. 2 South Carolina on the road, but ultimately were swept by the two-time defending National Champions. Princeton fell by one run, 2-1, in the series opener on Mar. 9, before dropping a 6-1 decision the following day. The Tigers could not find enough offensive momentum to outlast the Gamecocks in the series finale on Mar. 11, falling 3-1.
On Deck: Princeton will face North Carolina (Mar. 20) and UNC Greensboro (Mar. 21), before wrapping up its spring trip with a four-game series at Navy from Mar. 23-25.
Schedule Update: The Tigers were scheduled to face North Carolina A&T on Thursday, Mar. 22, however a schedule conflict for Aggies forced the game to be cancelled.
A Familiar Face: Assistant coach Hank Coogan returns to his alma mater this weekend, this time sitting in the visitor's dugout. Coogan played for Richmond from 2004-08 and was an Atlantic 10 All-Conference performer as a catcher/outfielder for the Spiders.
