Men's Swimming Earns Pair Of All-America Honors At NCAA Championships
March 24, 2012 | Men's Swimming and Diving
Senior Jon Christensen won eight individual Ivy League titles in his career, but he picked up a pair of new honors during the second day of the 2012 NCAA Championships.
Christensen earned a pair of All-America Honorable Mention distinctions Friday, including one as part of the 11th-place 200 medley relay. One day after barely missing out on All-America honors in the 400 medley, the quartet of Kaspar Raigla, Christensen, Michael Strand and Harrison Wagner posted a time of 1:26.80 in the 'B' final Friday night.
That time is the second-fastest in both Princeton and Ivy League history, but it wasn't the final big swim of the night for Christensen. He won the consolation final in the 100 breast in a time of 52.95 to earn All-America individual honors. He missed the championship final by only .05 of a second during the preliminary rounds, but he came back strong to finish ninth nationally.
Princeton will round out the NCAA competition Saturday.
