Baseball to Kick Off Ivy Play with Dartmouth and Harvard at Home

After playing its first 15 games on the road, the Princeton baseball team will open the home half of the 2012 schedule with a four-game homestand versus Ivy foes Dartmouth and Harvard. The Tigers kick off conference action on Saturday, Mar. 31 with the Big Green and conclude the weekend with the Crimson the following day.
Weekend Schedule:Saturday, Mar. 31 vs. Dartmouth (DH) - 12 p.m.
Sunday, Apr. 1 vs. Harvard (DH) - 12 p.m.
Second game of doubleheaders begin approximately 30 minutes after the conclusion of game one.
Last Time Out: The Tigers (6-9) capped off their spring trip by winning their second series of the year at Navy, 2-1. Princeton went 4-5 over the nine-game road swing, winning series at both Navy and Richmond during that span. The Tigers also played then-No. 4 North Carolina and UNC Greensboro, but fell in both games.
Alec Keller and Sam Mulroy were dominant at the plate for Princeton over the road trip. Keller was 16-for-40 (.400), behind nine RBI, seven runs and a double, while Mulroy hit .455 (15-for-33) and tallied 19 RBI, 11 runs, four home runs, a triple and a double. Mulroy is also riding a team-leading nine-game hitting streak.
Opening Ivy Play: The reigning Ivy League Champion Tigers open up conference action this weekend. Over the next five weeks Princeton will look to take control of the Gehrig Division standings in hopes of returning to the Ivy League Championship Series and earning its seventh Ivy title.
How the Tigers Stack Up: The Tigers currently boast a league-leading 11 home runs, with Sam Mulroy headlining the squad with five. Princeton also is No. 2 in runs scored, total bases, hits, RBI and batters struck out.
Scouting Dartmouth: Dartmouth (3-10) heads to Princeton following a midweek 5-2 win over Amherst, halting a six-game losing streak. Ennis Coble leads the Big Green quartet hitting above .300. Coble is 14-for-43 (.326) and has eight runs, five RBI, a triple and a double in 12 starts. On the rubber, Mitch Horacek has taken the bulk of Dartmouth's innings. In 19 innings pitched, Horacek's (1-1) tallied 17 strikeouts, allowed 16 runs and has a 6.63 ERA.
Scouting Harvard: Harvard ended an 11-game skid with a 7-6 victory at Holy Cross on Mar. 28. The Crimson are 2-16 on the year and will play a doubleheader at Cornell prior to facing the Tigers. Brent Suter (0-4) leads the Harvard rotation with 23.1 innings pitched. In six games, he's thrown 18 strikeouts, given up 22 hits and has a 3.47 ERA. At the plate, Steven Dill leads the Crimson with a .300 batting average (12-for-40). Dill's tallied three doubles, two runs and an RBI in 13 games played.
