Softball Ends UMBC Visit with 1-0 Loss to Canisius
March 04, 2012 | Softball
A first-inning run made the difference for Canisius in its 1-0 win over the Princeton softball team Sunday morning at Coppin State in Baltimore.
A leadoff walk, two steals and an error trying to make the play on the steal at third base led to the run, spoiling a combined one-hit day from Meredith Brown and Liza Kuhn in the circle for the Tigers. Kuhn entered in the second inning and continued through the fifth before Brown returned to finish her start in the sixth.
Princeton had four hits in defeat, including a double for Kelsey VandeBergh.
On its season-opening weekend, Princeton finished at 1-3 and will head south again next weekend for a tournament hosted by the University of Maryland.
