Lowe's Senior Class Award All-American Release
Women's basketball senior Lauren Edwards capped off a standout Princeton career by earning Lowe's Senior CLASS Award Second-Team All-American honors. The three-time All-Ivy First Team selection was one of 10 student-athletes from Division I institutions across the country to be honored.
Edwards, the first Tiger to be named to the second team since Meagan Cower in 2008, helped guide Princeton (24-5 overall, 14-0 Ivy League) to its third consecutive Ivy League Championship and berth into the NCAA Tournament. Edwards, who also was named Ivy Player of the Week once this season, finished the year averaging 11.6 points, for second-best, and 4.7 rebounds per game. During the fall the Tiger co-captain reached the 1,000-point milestone, as Edwards finished her Princeton career as the No. 13 all-time leading scorer with 1,308 points. Edwards was also an integral part in Princeton being the first Ivy women's team to earn a national ranking, with the Tigers concluding the year ranked No. 24 in the country.
An acronym for Celebrating Loyalty and Achievement for Staying in School®, the Lowe's Senior CLASS Award honors the attributes of senior student-athletes in four areas: community, classroom, character and competition. The award program is designed exclusively for college seniors who are utilizing their complete athletic eligibility, remaining committed to their university and pursuing the many rewards a senior season can bring.
