Open Women Make First Road Trip, Face Penn, Dartmouth on Schuylkill

The Princeton open crew will look for its 22nd and 23rd consecutive Ivy League victories this weekend when it travels to the Schuylkill River in Philadelphia to take on both Penn and Dartmouth in The Class of 1984 Plaque regatta. Races are scheduled to begin at 9:40 am.
This will be Princeton's first road trip of the season, and it will be the only time that the Tigers cross state lines. Princeton will race for the Ivy League title May 13 at Cooper River, and it will compete in the NCAA Championships May 25-27 in West Windsor.
Princeton is currently ranked seventh in the CRCA/USRowing Coaches Poll, while Dartmouth moved up one spot to No. 19 last weekend. Penn is among the teams receiving votes outside the Top 20.
The Princeton open women are ranked first in each of the top four boats in the first Ivy League Women's Poll. The Tigers will likely cap the top seed in all four competitions at the Ivy League championships with a sweep this weekend. A sweep would also clinch Princeton's 28th straight Class of 1984 Plaque.
Unlike the rest of its regular season regattas, the Class of 1984 Plaque is not determined solely by the 1V winner. In this regatta, which dates back to 1985, the trophy is awarded to the team with the highest point total in the three 'NCAA Championship' format races:

Since the NCAA Championship, which will be held the last weekend in May in nearby West Windsor, N.J., is determined in similar fashion, this will be a good test for head coach Lori Dauphiny's program to see how each boat will fare with a team trophy on the line.
Like the varsity eight, both the 2V and the V4 are undefeated in Ivy League competition. Wins this weekend would clinch the top seed for all three boats at the first-ever Ivy League Championships, held May 13 at Cooper River.
