Hermans Named Ivy Pitcher of the Week
May 01, 2012 | Baseball
Princeton baseball pitcher Zak Hermans was named Ivy League Pitcher of the Week for the second time this year following his 14-strikeout performance on April 27 at Cornell.
In an elimination game for the Tigers, the junior pitched the best game of his Tiger career versus the Big Red. He eclipsed the existing Ivy strikeout season-high record and allowed only three hits in the 1-0 victory.
On the year, the righty led the Tigers with a 6-2 record and team-best 3.00 ERA. In nine starts spanning 63.0 innings, he pitched two complete games and a shutout. Hermans tallied 60 strikeouts on the year for second-best in the Ivy League and is in the top-10 in the conference in ERA, opposing batting average, innings pitched and wins, as well.
Princeton concluded 2012 with a 20-19 overall, 13-7 Ivy League record.
