April 16, 2013 | Baseball
Following his third complete game victory, Princeton baseball senior Zak Hermans was named Ivy League Pitcher of the Week. The righty is the second Tiger honored in as many weeks and first hurler.
Hermans set the tone in Princeton's series victory at Penn with his opening 7-2 win on Apr. 13. Over seven innings, he tallied a season-high 12 strikeouts over 27 batters faced. Hermans commanded the defense, limiting the Quakers to two runs, a walk and scattered five hits.
On the year, Hermans is 3-2 with a 1.91 ERA spanning 42.1 innings. He's thrown a team-high 44 strikeouts, while conceding a team-low nine earned runs and batters are hitting .191 against him. In Ivy play he has a 1.29 ERA, 21 strikeouts and only given up three earned runs.
Hermans and the Tigers (11-21, 8-4 Ivy) prepare for a midweek meeting with St. John's in Queens, N.Y. on Wednesday, Apr. 17 at 6 p.m. The game will air live on ESPN3.
