July 02, 2013 | Baseball
Former All-Ivy League Princeton pitcher/shortstop Matt Bowman (2010-12) has been finding great success within the New York Mets organization since being drafted in last year. He opened the season at 4-0 with the Class A Savannah Sand Gnats before being called up to the Class A Advanced St. Lucie Mets.
In his first four appearances in St. Lucie he went 4-0, before suffering his first loss on June 23 versus the Bradenton Marauders. Bowman has an 8-1 record with a 2.44 ERA in 14 starts. He's tossed 88.2 innings, 87 strikeouts and opponents are hitting .218 against.
Bowman, who is completing his economics degree at Princeton during the off seasons, recently was interviewed about moving up the ranks in the Mets organization and his economics background.
