NBC Sports Network To Televise Football Opener As Part Of Ivy Package
July 31, 2013 | Football
When Princeton hosts Lehigh at 6 pm on Sept. 21, it will do more than kick off the Tigers' 2013 football season. It will also be the first of six games on the NBC Sports Network.
The Ivy League's six games on the NBC Sports Network are part of NBC Sports Group's combined coverage of the 2013 college football season.
NBC Sports Group's college football studio team will provide pregame and postgame coverage during select college football telecasts during the college football season. Game commentators will be announced closer to the start of the season.
The NBC Sports Network, previously branded as VERSUS, has televised 24 Ivy League football matchups featuring all eight schools over the past five seasons.
Lehigh has won three straight in this series, though last year's season opener ended with the reigning Patriot League champion holding on to a 17-14 victory over Princeton. Lehigh has been Princeton's season-opening opponent six times in the last eight years, and the Tigers have only won once in that stretch (2006); that season, Princeton went on to win the Ivy League title.
