Caraun Reid, a multiple-time All-America and co-captain of the 2013 Ivy League champion Princeton football team, began his crucial Senior Bowl week Monday during the South Team Practice at Fairhope Stadium in Mobile, Ala.
Reid, only the second Princeton football player to play in the Senior Bowl, will be coached by the staff of the Jacksonville Jaguars, led by first-year head coach Gus Bradley. A long-time defensive assistant, including a recent coordinator in Seatlle, Bradley led Jacksonville to a 4-4 finish after an 0-8 start this past season.
Reid knows a little something about strong finishes. After going through back-to-back 1-9 seasons, the Ivy League Defensive Player of the Year finalist led Princeton to a dramatic Ivy League championship this past season. Reid earned his third straight first-team All-Ivy League honor; he is only the fourth player in Princeton history to earn the honor three times.
Reid is Princeton's first representative in the Senior Bowl since 1951, when offensive tackle Holland Donan played in the game.
The week is about far more than just the actual game, which will be televised live on the NFL Network Saturday at 4 pm. Scouts will watch each practice, looking for potential prospects for the NFL Draft (May 8-10). The South Team will practice for two hours each afternoon at Ladd-Peebles Stadium.
