Men's Golf to Visit Yale This Weekend for Second Fall Tournament
October 01, 2014 | Men's Golf
Coming off its first tournament of the fall last weekend at the Quechee Club Invitational in Vermont, the Princeton men's golf team will head back to New England this weekend for the MacDonald Cup at The Course at Yale.
There, the Tigers will see some of the same faces and teams as in Vermont last weekend. In the 13-team field, Princeton will again see Brown, Dartmouth, Fordham, Hartford and Penn, with Bryant, Fairfield, Kennesaw State, Sacred Heart, St. Edward's (Texas), Towson and the host Bulldogs.
The tournament will feature 54 holes with a busy two-round Saturday starting at 7:20 a.m. for the first tee times. Sunday's single round will begin with a shotgun start at 9 a.m.
Princeton's only other appearance in the MacDonald Cup came in fall 2011, when the Tigers finished second in a 14-team field, five shots behind Yale. Princeton last played The Course at Yale for the Yale Spring Opener in 2013, tying for fourth in a field of 13 teams.
Last week at Quechee, the six players Princeton used (one playing as an individual) were all juniors or younger, and five of the six were freshmen or sophomores. Sophomore Alex Dombrowski led the team, finishing 10th overall.
