The familiar combination of Tyler Lussi and Lauren Lazo added up to three goals for the Princeton women's soccer team Tuesday night at Army as the Tigers ran their unbeaten streak to five games. With 38-plus minutes to play, Beth Stella outmaneuvered a pair of Army defenders near midfield and sent a centering pass to Catherine Hartigan, who found Lussi headed upfield with only the goalkeeper to beat. Lussi again won that battle, and the Tigers had a 2-0 lead. |

| • Tyler Lussi's two goals gave her 11 on the season, surpassing her freshman-year total of 10. She's the fifth player in program history to have two seasons with at least 10 goals, following current assistant coach Esmeralda Negron '05, Emily Behncke '06, Linda DeBoer '86 and Sue Mooney '85. Mooney and DeBoer were the only two with 10-goal seasons in each of their first two years. • Princeton now has a shutout streak of 213:15 since a second-half goal at Lehigh. • Lussi will need four more goals the rest of the way to set a Princeton record for goals by the end of a player's sophomore year, as Linda DeBoer '86 had 24 in her first two seasons. • The win evened the all-time series with Army at 4-4. Last season, in the teams' first meeting since 1997, Princeton also won 3-0 with that game taking place on Myslik Field at Roberts Stadium. The wins are the first back-to-back wins for Princeton in the series. • Tyler Lussi had three two-goal games over the first 24 games of her career, and she's now had four straight two-goal games including her first career hat trick last Saturday against Brown. • Keepers Darcy Hargadon for Princeton and Jordan Cassalia for Army faced off for the second straight year. • Though Tyler Lussi now has 21 career goals, remaining in 12th place on the Princeton all-time list, she's not the active career leader. Lauren Lazo scored her 26th career goal tonight, moving up one spot and into a three-way tie for fifth place all-time with Amelia Reyes '01 and Diana Matheson '08. Lazo's former teammate Jen Hoy '13 is in fourth place with 36 career goals. |
