Men's Tennis Ends Run at USTA/ITA Regional
October 19, 2014 | Men's Tennis
Play came to a close Sunday for the Princeton men's tennis team at the USTA/ITA Northeast Regional at the USTA National Tennis Center.
Tom Colautti advanced to the Round of 16 in singles before national No. 8 and the tournament's No. 1 seed Winston Lin of Columbia ended Colautti's run with a 6-1, 6-1 final. In doubles play, R.J. Del Nunzio and Robert Livi of St. John's defeated Princeton's nationally No. 56-ranked pair of Zack McCourt and Alex Day 8-5 in the Round of 16.
“We didn't have our best results this weekend," Princeton head coach Billy Pate said. "Though I'm disappointed in not having a better showing, I know we are making tremendous headway with our improvement and we'll see that in the upcoming tournaments. There are some areas where we need some work and after the guys get through midterms this week, we'll have a great opportunity during fall break to address those. I know our team will enjoy being back outdoors and getting some solid reps before a couple of more tournaments to end the fall competition schedule."
Princeton's results from Sunday and links to previous days' recaps are below. The Tigers will have next weekend away from competition before sending players to a pair of Florida tournaments, the USTA Clay Courts and the FGCU Fall Invitational, beginning Oct. 31.
