October 24, 2014 | Men's Water Polo
PRINCETON, N.J. – For the second time in as many weeks, Thomas Nelson has been named the CWPA Southern Division Player of the Week.
Sharing last week's honor with teammate Sam Butler, Nelson followed up a successful West Coast swing with an impressive showing at the Ivy Championship. Netting a hat trick against Dartmouth in the semifinals, he netted four goals on six shots while drawing an ejection in a 9-7 championship game victory over Brown.
Earlier this season, Nelson had four goal games against George Washington (9/28) and Navy (10/5). Currently ranked second on the team in goals (33), he has factored into the scoring in all but two of his appearances while netting at least three goals in a game in six outings.
Also garnering recognition were Vojislav Mitrovic and Jordan Colina, who nabbed spots on the Southern Division defensive and rookie honor rolls, respectively. Mitrovic made eight saves in the title game against the Bears to improve to 11-2 on the season with a 0.583 save percentage. Tallying four goals against Dartmouth, Colina had a goal and an assist against Brown. In his first 18 collegiate games, Colina has amassed 27 goals, 30 steals and seven assists while going 40-6 (0.870) on sprints.
Princeton hosts Fordham and Iona on Saturday, Oct. 25.
