October 03, 2014 | Women's Golf
The Princeton women's golf team closed the first round of the Nittany Lion Invitational Friday in fifth place among 14 teams on Penn State's Blue Course.
Hana Ku and Sydney Kersten co-led Princeton at 3-over par, good for 16th place among the 89 golfers. Penn State's Ariana Coyle at -4, and Western Michigan's Anna Wilcoxson and Yale's Elizabeth Bernabe, both at -2, were the only players under par after the first 18 holes.
Bernabe's performance helped pace the Bulldogs to a one-shot lead over Columbia in a field that includes four Ivy programs, all of which finished in the top five with Harvard in fourth. Western Michigan, two shots behind Yale at +10, stands third with Harvard at +14 and Princeton eight shots behind Yale at +16.
The tournament, which is Princeton's second of four in the fall, will extend through Sunday. Saturday's second round will start tee times at 9 a.m. with Princeton's first swing scheduled to come at 9:48. Complete results are available at the PDF link on this page and Princeton's results are below.
