| Princeton and San Diego bid adieu to the Fullerton portion of the Wooden Legacy with the Toreros dealing the Tigers a 75-65 defeat Friday afternoon in California. Princeton will face the loser of Friday evening's game between Western Michigan and San Jose State in a 7:30 p.m. ET/4:30 p.m. PT game Sunday at the Honda Center in Anaheim, California. The Tigers endured a 13-0 San Diego run that turned a 12-8 Princeton lead into a 21-12 Tiger deficit as Princeton went four and a half minutes without scoring, and Princeton never led after that. USD's lead grew as large as 15 points before the break as the Toreros outshot Princeton from the floor 57.7 percent to 37 percent for the opening half. Princeton bettered San Diego after the break, outshooting the Toreros from the floor 54.2 percent to 28.6 percent, but Princeton never got closer than four points in the second half. The Tigers got that close on two occasions inside the final four minutes, but USD stopped it there thanks to a 7-0 run that held Princeton scoreless until the Tigers took an 11-point deficit into the final minute and Spencer Weisz hit a 3-pointer to end the drought. Princeton's comeback was hurt by 17 second-half fouls, sending USD to the line 18 times to nine for Princeton as the Toreros were whistled just eight times after the break. Weisz led Princeton with 18 points on the night, one more than freshman Amir Bell, who had 17. |
