December 15, 2014 | Women's Basketball
PRINCETON, N.J. – For the second time in as many weeks, Blake Dietrick of the Princeton University women's basketball team garnered Player of the Week honors from the Ivy League and CollegeSportsMadness.com.
Also named the Suburban Transit/GoPrincetonTigers.com Athlete of the Week, Dietrick averaged 20.5 points, 7.0 assists, 6.0 rebounds and 2.0 steals in a pair of blowout wins over Michigan and Binghamton. Committing just one turnover in her two appearances, she was an efficient 72.7 percent (16-22) from the field and 75.0 percent from behind the arc (6-8).
Flirting with a triple-double against the Wolverines, Dietrick finished with 22 points, nine rebounds, eight assists, three steals and zero turnovers in 35 minutes. Hitting eight of her 11 shot attempts, she was 4-for-5 from three and 2-for-2 from the free throw line.
Turning in another solid all-around effort against Binghamton, she netted 19 points in just 25 minutes on 8-for-11 shooting. Connecting on 2-of-3 three-point attempts, she dished out six assists while pulling down three boards.
Capturing her third Ivy accolade of the season, Dietrick upped her career total to seven, tying head coach Courtney Banghart for ninth in conference history. A Princeton player has now laid claim to the Player of the Week award in each of the first five weeks of the season, marking the first time a team has achieved the feat since Harvard during the 1997-98 campaign.
