Ivy Champ Teo D'Alessandro Places Sixth In Winter National Champs 'A' Final
December 05, 2014 | Men's Swimming and Diving
Junior Teo D'Alessandro made the most of his trip to Greensboro, N.C., this week. The reigning Ivy League champion in the 200 IM reached the 'A' final of the 2014 AT&T Winter National Championships Thursday. The Princeton record holder in the event finished sixth overall in a time of 1:45.76.
D'Alessandro qualified for the final with the third-best time in the heats (1:45.52); that time is faster than any other Princeton swimmer — other than D'Alessandro — has ever posted in the 200 IM.
Both the men's and women's teams will continue competition at the Winter National Championships Friday. Joining D'Alessandro on the men's side is Michael Strand, Sam Smiddy, Byron Sanborn and Sandy Bole, while Olivia Chan, Nikki Larson, Lindsay Temple and Elsa Welshofer are competing for the women.
Full information on the meet, including results and heat sheets, can be found here.
The rest of the men's and women's teams will open the three-day Brown Open Friday morning at 11 and runs through a Sunday finals session that begins at 5 pm. The meet will feature five Ivy League teams (Brown, Columbia, Dartmouth, Princeton and Yale) as well as Rider. Live results for the weekend can be found here.
