With a potentially season-defining 10 games in eight days looming on the near horizon, the Princeton baseball team has a midweek date to worry about first.
Princeton hosts Monmouth at Clarke Field Wednesday afternoon, with first pitch at 3:30.
Both teams are below .500 overall and over .500 in their leagues, with huge games ahead as they both look to be part of their league championships.
Monmouth is 7-15 overall but 4-3 in the MAAC, which has the Hawks in a tie for fifth place in the league standings. In the MAAC, the top six qualify for the league's tournament, and Monmouth and Quinnipiac are a half-game ahead of Iona right now.
Up next for Monmouth will be three against Manhattan, who is in last place in the league.
As for Princeton, the Tigers are 4-2 in the Ivy League's Gehrig Division and are about to start a huge stretch of league games.
Princeton will play four games at Columbia this weekend, with doubleheaders Saturday and Sunday. Then it'll be back here on Clarke Field for the makeup doubleheader against Harvard next Wednesday, and then finally four games at home against Penn the following Saturday and Sunday.
Princeton leads the all-time series against Monmouth 18-14 and defeated the Hawks 9-7 last year in West Long Branch.
