Keller Named CoSIDA Academic All-District

Princeton senior Alec Keller was named CoSIDA Academic All-District, the organization announced Wednesday.
Keller, a politics major who plays second base and centerfield for Princeton, was one of 11 players honored from District II, which covers Division I schools in New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Maryland, Delaware, West Virginia and the District of Columbia.
Keller led the Tigers this season with a .327 batting average in his final season, good for second in the Ivy League, while belting out a 48 hits and four triples, both leading or co-leading the Ivy. His 19 RBIs, eight doubles and two home runs were second on the team. Keller struck out just 18 times this season, a low among Tigers with at least 100 at-bats. Defensively, Keller's .984 fielding clip was second among Princeton players with at least 80 chances, or two per the team's 40 games.
During the season, Keller had a 13-game hit streak, which still stands as the longest in the Ivy League this season.
The highly competitive all-district honor is the first for a Princeton baseball player since 2005, when Brian Kappel, Erik Stiller and Andrew Salini were named to that year's team. Keller is now eligible for Academic All-America honors, which will be announced May 30.
