Women's Golf Moves Up on Second Day at Vanderbilt
September 20, 2014 | Women's Golf
The Princeton women's golf team was three shots better Saturday than it was Friday, and the Tigers moved up two spots in the event standings for their efforts.
Princeton stands tied for ninth place in the 15-team Mason Rudolph Championship at the Legends Club outside Nashville, heading into Sunday's final round after shooting +10 as a team. Hana Ku (-2) and Alex Wong (-1) led Princeton with red-number rounds. Ku birdied four holes on the back nine, including one on the par-3 11th. Wong carded four birdies in all and two on par-3s.
For the weekend, Ku leads Princeton on the weekend at +3, standing in 20th place overall. Her round of 71 is the sophomore's best as a Tiger, surpassing the 72 she carded in the middle round of last year's Mason Rudolph tournament.
Vanderbilt cut five shots off its Friday total to overtake LSU, which added seven strokes to its first-round number, and assume the top spot at its home tournament. While the Commodores at -5 have a six-shot lead on LSU for the team title, each team has a player atop the individual leaderboard with LSU's Madelene Sagstrom and Vanderbilt's Jenny Hahn each at -4 over the two rounds.
The Tigers will close their fall-opening tournament, which also marks the team's first competition under new coach Erika DeSanty, with Sunday's final round.
