Women's Golf Wraps Play at Mason Rudolph Championship
September 21, 2014 | Women's Golf
The Princeton women's golf team closed out its first tournament of the 2014 fall season Sunday at the Vanderbilt-hosted Mason Rudolph Championship outside Nashville.
Princeton began the day tied for ninth place in the 15-team event but slipped to 13th over the final round, still two spots higher than the team's finish in the event a year ago.
Sophomore Hana Ku's second-round 71 remained the team's low round of the tournament, while Alex Wong used a 3-over 75 to move into first place on the team. Freshman Tenley Shield topped the team with three birdies over the final round, and Wong made the par-3 ninth hole in two for one of her two birdies on the day.
Though LSU led after the first day, Vanderbilt finished with an 11-shot lead over its SEC counterpart to take the tournament title. The top four teams in the event were from the Southeastern Conference, with Mississippi State and Auburn finishing behind Vanderbilt and LSU. Vanderbilt's Jenny Hahn took home the individual title with a 3-shot finish over teammate Cindy Ha and Auburn's Clara Baena.
Princeton will have next weekend off from competition before heading to Penn State for the Nittany Lion Invitational Oct. 3-5.
