Texas A&M Tops Men's Golf in Fall-Opening Dual

Princeton's men's golf team opened its fall slate with a dual match at Baltusrol Golf Club Sunday afternoon, and visiting Texas A&M proved the course that has played host to major championships suited the Aggies just fine.
Texas A&M's counting four scores finished just one total shot over par, with three players turning in even-par 72s and another with a 73. Princeton, which was without its freshmen due to the university's opening exercises, had a 73 from sophomore Jason Chen but couldn't match the Aggies' cards.
"It's hard to know just what we have yet, with today actually being our first day of the season," Princeton's J. Stuart Francis '74 head coach Will Green said. "We're all confident that we are going to have an exceptional team this year; we just need to get some more rounds under our belts."
Texas A&M, like Princeton, returned three players from its final tournament of the 2014 spring season, which for Texas A&M was the NCAA Championships. Princeton returned to the same course where it finished last season with the Ivy League meet.
"Texas A&M displayed both the talent and the depth that has led them to 12 straight postseason appearances and seven straight trips to the NCAA Championships." Green said. "They are a good team and, as importantly, a collection of exceptional young men."
Scores from the event are below. Princeton will continue its season with the Dartmouth-hosted New England Invitational in Vermont Sept. 27-28.
