Carcione, Wasserman Earn Main Draw Singles Bids at USTA/ITA Regional
October 22, 2015 | Men's Tennis
Jonathan Carcione and Jimmy Wasserman each won two matches in Thursday's qualifying singles draw to open the USTA/ITA Northeast Regional at Yale, each earning bids in Friday's main singles first round.
"It was a good start for us today with Jimmy and Jonathan combining for four wins," Princeton coach Billy Pate said. "I'm pleased to have eight guys in the main draw starting tomorrow and it will be a good test against our Ivy and regional opponents. We'll get a chance to see the progress we've made since the start of the semester."
The Tiger pair join the six Princeton players already qualified for the main draw. Carcione, Wasserman, Luke Gamble and Kial Kaiser will begin play Friday, while Alex Day, Diego Vives, Tom Colautti and Josh Yablon have first-round byes and will begin singles play Saturday.
Princeton's doubles pairs of Colautti and Vives, Day and Gamble, and Kaiser and Yablon will begin play in the main doubles draw Friday. Play will begin at 8 a.m.
