No. 12 Men's Water Polo Opens Weekend With 15-8 Win Over Johns Hopkins

PRINCETON, N.J. – For the second time this season, the 12th-ranked Princeton University men's water polo team upended CWPA Southern Division rival Johns Hopkins, thanks to a 15-8 decision at DeNunzio Pool on Friday afternoon.
Improving to 11-4 (4-0 CWPA Southern) on the year, the Tigers will travel to Annapolis, Md. for a pair of games against Gannon and the United States Naval Academy on Saturday, Oct. 24.
Edging out Johns Hopkins in overtime on Sept. 26, 17-15, the Tigers built a 7-3 halftime lead. Ahead 10-6 at the end of the third quarter, Princeton netted five of the game's final seven goals to secure a seven-goal margin of victory.
Thomas Nelson paced the Tiger attack with four goals and an assist. Jordan Colina and Ryan Wilson each turned in a hat-trick while combining for six steals, three assists, and a pair of blocks. Jovan Jeremic scored on two of his three shots, while Jamie Kuprenas, Connor McGoldrick, and Eric Bowen also got on the board. Kuprenas also chipped in three assists and two steals.
Playing into the final frame, Vojislav Mitrovic finished with seven saves. Taking over in the latter stages of regulation, Ryan Melosini played the final 3:24 in net.
