No. 10 Princeton Men's Water Polo Downs Navy, Bucknell on Senior Day

PRINCETON, N.J. – The 10th-ranked Princeton University men's water polo team closed out its regular season with a pair of wins over the United States Naval Academy and Bucknell University on Senior Day at DeNunzio Pool.
Dispatching of Navy in the opener, 15-13, the Tigers held off the Bison in the nightcap, 9-7. Extending its win streak to six games, Princeton improved to 16-4 (8-0 CWPA Southern) on the season and returns to action on Nov. 7-8 at the CWPA Southern Championships hosted by Bucknell.

Trailing 5-4 at the end of the first quarter, Princeton accounted for five of the six goals scored in the second period to take a 9-6 lead into the intermission. Netting four of the six goals in the third, Princeton did just enough down the stretch, holding onto a two-goal margin of victory despite a 5-2 Navy run in the final eight minutes.
Thomas Nelson and Matt Payne each netted three goals, with Payne also collecting three assists. Bret Hinrichs, Ryan Wilson, and Eric Bowen scored a pair of goals apiece, while Curtis Fink, Jordan Colina, and Jovan Jeremic also got on the board. Nelson and Wilson also chipped in with two assists each, while Michael Swart drew two ejections and nabbed a pair of steals.
Making two saves in the first quarter, Vojislav Mitrovic turned away four stops in the second. Adding three saves in the third, he tacked on two more in the final frame to finish with 11 stops.

Trailing 3-2 at the end of the first quarter, Princeton accounted for four of the five goals scored in the second to take a 6-4 lead into the intermission. With the Tigers up 7-6 at the end of the third, Thomas Nelson carved out space in front, extending the Princeton lead early in the final frame. With 2:40 left in regulation, Nelson struck again, ripping a long shot into the top left corner of the cage to make it 9-6.
Nelson finished with three goals on five shots with two steals, while Matt Payne had three goals and a steal. Jordan Colina, Michael Swart, and Jovan Jeremic had the rest of the Tigers' nine goals with Colina nabbing a team-high three steals. Bradley Wachtell and Ryan Wilson chipped in with a pair of steals apiece.
Making just three saves in the first half, Mitrovic turned away five shots in the third. Picking up six more saves in the final frame, Mitrovic finished with 14 stops.
