Women's Golf Finishes Runner-Up at Princeton Invitational
October 04, 2015 | Women's Golf
Harvard mounted a second-round charge to overtake first-round leader Princeton and win the Princeton Invitational Sunday at Springdale Golf Club.
The Tigers led by six shots over Columbia after Saturday's first round, but while the Tigers added six shots to their Saturday total in Sunday's final round, Harvard cut 20 shots off its first-round total to break a fourth-place tie with Yale and climb over Rutgers, Columbia and the Tigers to win the team title.
Individually, Georgetown's Jacquelyn Eleey cut three shots off her Saturday total to climb from fifth to first and win medalist honors at +5, three shots better than Princeton's Tenley Shield, who was the co-leader after Saturday's round, and Harvard's Courtney Hooton.
The Princeton Invite was the second tournament of the fall for the Tigers, who have taken runner-up honors both times. The Tigers will hit the course at the Yale Invitational next weekend in their third of four tournaments on the fall.
