PRINCETON, N.J. – Vojislav Mitrovic and Ryan Wilson each earned a spot on the Collegiate Water Polo Association Weekly honor roll after helping the Tigers capture their ninth CWPA Southern Division Championship.
Picking up his fourth CWPA Southern Defensive Player of the Week award of the season (seventh overall), Mitrovic racked up 37 saves in three tournament games. Making just three stops in limited action against Gannon, Mitrovic turned away 14 shots in Princeton's 14-6 semifinal victory over Navy. In the final against Johns Hopkins, Mitrovic was at his best, tying a single-game program record with 20 saves.
Logging 585:27 minutes in net this season, Mitrovic has posted a 17-4 overall record with a 0.593 save percentage. With 245 saves, Mitrovic has an opportunity to eclipse his total of 253 stops during his rookie year, which already sits second on the team's single-season charts. Gregory Stoll currently holds the program record for saves in a single season with 266 in 1997.
Serving as one of the catalysts to the Princeton attack all year, Wilson garnered CWPA Southern Division Rookie of the Week laurels after picking up seven goals and six assists in the Tigers' three matches over the weekend.
Opening tournament play with three goals, two assists, and three steals against Gannon, Wilson had three goals, two helpers, and a pair of steals against Navy. In the final against Johns Hopkins, Wilson scored on his lone shot, while also collecting two assists and a steal.
Making an immediate impact in his rookie campaign, Wilson currently ranks third on the squad in goals (45) while dishing out a team-high 34 assists. Also second on the Tigers in steals with 39, he is tied for the team lead in blocks (10) and is 17-8 on sprints.
Princeton men's water polo returns to action on Nov. 20-22 for the CWPA Championships hosted by the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
