Men's Tennis Finishes Perfect First Day in Florida
November 14, 2015 | Men's Tennis
Just two members of the Princeton men's tennis team are down in Florida at the Lakewood Ranch Invitational, but those two did all the winning they could on the event's first day Friday.
Tom Colautti and Ben Tso each won two singles matches to advance to Saturday's quarterfinal round, and the pair teamed up to win two doubles matches to make Saturday's semifinals. Princeton's quarterfinal win came over the event's top seed and nationally 35th-ranked Jeffrey Brown and Alex Gornet of Louisville in a tiebreaker, 8-7(6).
"What an inspiration for Princeton tennis," Damian Hume, the Cornelia Drake and John Van Ryn Jr. '28 assistant coach of men's tennis, said. "I am extremely proud of the fight that they had in them all day. From start to finish, the Tigers fought until the last point, and today, nobody could stop us."
The Tiger pair's semifinals match will begin at 9 a.m. with singles play beginning at noon.
"Tomorrow is a brand new day and I am excited to see what the guys can do," Hume said. "We competed hard today and showed what it means to play for Princeton."
