Box Score & Play-by-Play: vs. Long Island | vs. Iowa
| Long Island's lead was just a little too much for the Princeton softball team to overcome in Saturday's opener, as Princeton pushed across two runs apiece in the sixth and seventh to pull within one but couldn't tie it up in a 5-4 defeat. LIU built a 4-0 lead through five innings before Princeton halved that with a two-run home run by Skye Jerpbak in the sixth. After LIU got one of those back in its half of the sixth, Princeton started the seventh by reaching its first four batters to bring home two runs and make it 5-4 with nobody out. The Blackbirds survived when a double-steal attempt didn't go Princeton's way and two groundouts ended the threat. Against Iowa, Princeton broke it open late to achieve its first win over a Big Ten program since 2006, 10-2 in five innings. Iowa led 2-1 after two innings with Cara Worden getting the run back for Princeton on a solo shot, and the Tigers tied it in the fourth when a Jerpbak double brought home a Worden single. The dam really broke for Princeton in the fifth, when four hits, a walk and a few failed fielder's choice attempts for Iowa led to eight Princeton runs and a run-rule ending. |
| Skye Jerpbak had a day, going 4 for 6 with a home run, a double and four RBIs in the split. Jerpbak, Haley Hineman and Rachel Rendina combined for 12 of Princeton's 18 hits on the day, each with four. |

| A double-steal attempt with nobody out for Princeton in the seventh helped LIU begin to quell the rally when the potential game-tying run was cut down at home plate. The Blackbirds retired the next two batters and survived, 5-4. Alyssa Schmidt's RBI single brought home Danielle Dockx in the fifth inning against Iowa and was the first of eight runs Princeton scored in the inning to end it early in a 10-2 victory. |

• Each of Saturday's games was a first, with LIU getting its first win over Princeton in five tries and Princeton and Iowa meeting for the first time. |
