Newell & Contini Earn Weekly Honors

PRINCETON, N.Y. (2/3/15) - Princeton junior Kimberly Newell was named the ECAC Hockey Goaltender of the Week and sophomore Molly Contini was named the GoPrincetonTigers.com Athlete of the Week for the week ending Feb. 1
Newell made 32 saves and earned a shutout victory over No. 4 Harvard on Saturday. It marked Princeton's first win and shutout of Harvard since the 2012-13 season and the team's first win over at top-5 team this season. The previous night, Newell stopped 32 saves in a 2-2 draw with Dartmouth. At No. 1 Boston College on Monday, Newell made 27 saves. For the week she went 1-1-1 against two top-5 teams, and had a 1.95 GAA and a .938 save percentage with 91 total saves.
Contini scored the game-winning goal in Princeton's win over Harvard. She also tallied the game-tying goal in a 2-2 draw with Dartmouth, scoring the lone goal in the third period, as Princeton rallied from a 2-0 deficit. On Monday, in the Tigers first game since Jan. 10, Contini chipped in an assist in a loss at No. 1 Boston College.
Princeton hosts Colgate and Cornell this weekeend, Feb. 6 & 7 at Hobey Baker Rink.
