With another sign that spring is almost here, the Princeton men's golf team will head to Athens, Georgia for the Southern Intercollegiate, a one-day tournament hosted by the University of Georgia.
Princeton will play the 36-hole event alongside Charleston Southern, Chattanooga, Francis Marion, Furman, Georgia Regents, Georgia State, Lipscomb, Maryland-Eastern Shore, Presbyterian, Savannah State, Stetson, Western Carolina, Youngstown State and host Georgia.
Play will begin Sunday at 8:30 a.m. at Athens Country Club, which measures 6,917 yards with a par of 72. This will be Princeton's first participation in the event.
Princeton's trip to Georgia will be the first of four events on the regular-season schedule this spring, plus the Ivy League Championship. Princeton will head to Stanford later this month for The Goodwin tournament before going to Texas A&M for the Aggie Invitational on the first weekend of April and hosting the Princeton Invitational the second weekend of April.
Princeton competed in three stroke-play tournaments on the fall and saw freshman Eric Mitchell win the Yale-hosted MacDonald Cup in the team's second fall tournament back in October. Mitchell led Princeton in each of its last two events while freshmen and sophomores held all but one of the team's top five positions across the three stroke play events.
