Box Score & Play-by-Play

Princeton led by as many as four runs, but it wasn't until a walk-off single in the seventh inning that the Tigers were able to finish off a 5-4 win at Rider Tuesday afternoon.

Princeton was the home team in the game, which was moved to Rider due to field conditions at Princeton's Class of 1895 Field.

Erica Nori started the game for Princeton and retired the first nine Broncs she faced before a pair of singles broke up the perfect bid in the fourth. Still, Nori finished her four innings without a run. Marissa Reynolds led off bottom of the fourth win a solo home run and Rachel Rendina grounded out to bring home a double from Kayla Bose, putting the Tigers up 2-0 after four frames.

The lead was 4-0 for Princeton after the fifth when Bose cashed in Kelsey Smith and Haley Hineman singles, but Rider struck back in the top of the sixth with four hits and an error to tie it at 4-4.

Princeton left runners on second and third to end the sixth, but after Claire Klausner retired Rider in order in the seventh, the Tigers moved to end it in its half of the inning. Sarah McGowan drew a one-out walk and pinch-hitter Alyssa Schmidt followed with a double, and Rendina picked up pinch runner Kate Miller from third with a single to win it.


Rachel Rendina was one of five Tigers with two hits against the Broncs, and it was her single that brought home the game-winning run in the bottom of the seventh.

Princeton started the seventh with a walk and a double to put runners on second and third with one out in the bottom of the seventh, and Rachel Rendina followed that by threading a single up the middle to bring home pinch-runner Kate Miller for the win.

• Princeton has now won 10 in a row against Rider with the Broncs' last win in the series coming in 2004.

• Kayla Bose's 2-hit game was her first multi-hit contest since the 2013 finale against Cornell.

• Haley Hineman's 2-hit game was her first multi-hit game since going 4 for 4 against Long Island on Feb. 28.

• Both of Claire Klausner's pitching wins on the season have come against Rider, and both in the last two weeks. The other was in a 12-7 win that took place at Liberty on March 19.

• Erica Nori's start in the circle was her first in the season and first since the season finale against Cornell last spring.

• Rookie Kylee Pierce has had a hit in three straight games for the first time in her Tiger career.

• Marissa Reynolds' home run was her second of the season and first since on March 21 against North Carolina Central.

• Both of Kelsey Smith's multi-hit games this season have come against Rider. She went 3 for 4 in the March 19 game played at Liberty.


It's back to Ivy League action for the Tigers, who will face Dartmouth in Hanover for a pair at 2 p.m. Friday before heading to Harvard for a 12:30 p.m. twinbill Saturday.
