STATE FARM COLLEGE SLAM DUNK & 3-POINT CHAMPIONSHIPS
PRINCETON, N.J. - Blake Dietrick of the 13th-ranked Princeton University women's basketball team added to her list of postseason accolades by earning a spot on the Associated Press All-America team.
An honorable mention selection, Dietrick is just the second Tiger to garner All-America recognition from the AP, joining Niveen Rasheed who earned third team accolades in 2013.
The unanimous choice for the Ivy League Player of the Year award, Dietrick also garnered praise on the WBCA All-Region team. Previously securing a place on the Naismith Trophy Midseason 30 for the best collegiate player in the nation and the Nancy Lieberman Watch List for the best point guard in the country, Dietrick is just one of three players in conference history to rack up at least seven Ivy POTW awards in one season.
Averaging career-highs in points, assists and rebounds per game, Dietrick shot a career-best 48.6 percent from the floor this season. Leading the conference in assists per game (5.1), she finished tied for third in assist-to-turnover ratio (1.6), and fifth in scoring (14.7) and field goal percentage.
In her final collegiate game, Dietrick poured in a team-high 26 points on 10-of-18 shooting in an NCAA Second Round match-up against top-seeded Maryland. Ranked 11th on the Tigers' all-time scoring list (1,233), she sits fourth in assists (346). Her 157 helpers this year are a program record and is the fifth-highest single-season total in Ivy history.
Dietrick will return to the court as part of the StateFarm College Slam Dunk & 3-Point Championships at Butler University's Hinkle Fieldhouse.
Now in its 27th year, the competition will feature 24 of the best dunkers and sharpshooters in the nation and will be televised live on ESPN on Thursday, Apr. 2 at 7 p.m. Dietrick will be one of eight players to participate in the women's 3-point shooting competition.
One of the most prolific scorers in program history, Dietrick knocked down 61 of her 147 attempts from long distance this season, ranking fifth in the Ivy League in three-point shooting percentage (41.5). Dietrick's 210 career triples are third on the program charts, while her 39.5 career shooting percentage from behind the arc also ranks third.
