PRINCETON, N.J. – The Princeton University baseball team returns to action on Wednesday, Apr. 8 with a midweek tilt against instate rival Monmouth University.
Coming off a 1-3 showing during an Ivy weekend against Harvard and Dartmouth, the Tigers are 18-15 all-time against the Hawks. First pitch at MU Baseball Field is set for 3 p.m.
THE WEEK THAT WAS
• After opening the week with a pair of losses to Yale, the Tigers went 1-3 during a road Ivy weekend at Harvard and Dartmouth.
• Princeton dropped a pair of games to the Crimson last Saturday (L, 8-1/L, 11-8)
• Dropping the first game of a Sunday twinbill against Dartmouth (L, 3-1), the Orange and Black secured a 4-0 decision in the nightcap to salvage a split.
ON A ROLL
• Asher Lee-Tyson hit .444 against Harvard and Dartmouth with a .583 on-base percentage.
• Danny Hoy, who leads the team with six multi-RBI games, batted .400 over the weekend with a double, triple, two RBI, and three runs scored.
• Billy Arendt, who has a team-high 11 multi-hit games, hit .333 in four outings against Harvard and Dartmouth.
• Peter Owens batted .308 during the weekend with a .400 OBP.
ON THE HILL
• Luke Strieber pitched 8.1 shutout innings in the win over Dartmouth, giving up just four hits.
• Allowing just one hit through seven innings, Strieber retired 12 consecutive batters from the second through sixth innings.
• Nick Donatiello earned a save in the victory over the Big Green, recording the final two outs.
• Logging 21.0 innings in nine appearances this season, Donatiello has posted a 3.43 earned run average with 12 strikeouts.
BATTING AROUND
• Billy Arendt currently leads the team with a .359 batting average and .419 OBP.
• Tied for the team lead in doubles (9) and triples (2), Arendt has scored a team-best 18 runs while also collecting 11 RBI.
• Danny Hoy is hitting .337, while slugging a team-high .592 with nine doubles, two triples and four home runs.
• Driving in a squad-best 21 RBI, Hoy is one of three Tigers to score at least 10 runs (15).
• Peter Owens is batting .321 on the season with eight RBI and six runs scored, while Nick Hernandez is hitting .288 with four doubles and seven RBI.
• Zack Belski has driven in 11 runs, while drawing a team-best 11 walks.
• As a team, Princeton is hitting .260 on the season with a .328 OBP.
LAST MEETING
• Monmouth shut out Princeton at Clarke Field last season, 3-0.
• Jeff Singer gave up just two hits in 6.0 innings in the win.
• Nick Donatiello took the loss, surrendering two runs on four hits in 4.2 innings with five strikeouts.
