Prchal Awaits NCAA Golf Selection Announcement
May 03, 2015 | Men's Golf
Eight days after he earned an automatic bid to one of the NCAA regional tournaments, Princeton sophomore Quinn Prchal will find out where he will play.
The NCAA selection show will be televised at 10 a.m. ET Monday on the Golf Channel, also viewable online at GolfChannel.com, and will reveal the 81 teams and 45 individuals that will be sent to six regional sites. At three of the six sites, 13 teams and 10 individuals will play, and at the other three sites, 14 teams and five individuals will play. The three-round regional tournaments will be held May 14-16.
This will be Prchal's second trip to an NCAA regional, as he and the rest of the 2013 Tigers won the Ivy League team title two years ago and played in the Washington State-hosted regional in Pullman, Washington.
The six regional hosts are Washington, Yale, San Diego, Texas Tech, Ball State and North Carolina. The top five teams at each of the six regionals, plus the low individual not on those teams, will gain a bid to the NCAA Championships, which will be hosted by South Florida.
Prchal won the Ivy's automatic individual bid after turning in a second-round 68 and a final-round 67 after a first-round 75 to win the Ivy individual title by three shots. He became Princeton's 14th individual champion since the league began hosting its own championship in 1975 and first since former teammate Greg Jarmas '14 in 2013.
