Prchal Ticketed for NCAA Men's Golf Regional at Yale
May 04, 2015 | Men's Golf
The Course at Yale will host Princeton sophomore Quinn Prchal when the NCAA Regional men's golf tournaments get underway Thursday, May 14.
Prchal, who won the Ivy League's individual automatic bid when he won medalist honors at the Ivy League Championship on the final weekend of April, found out his regional destination Monday morning on the Golf Channel. Prchal won the title at Saucon Valley Country Club's Grace Course, where he finished at -6 to win top honors by three shots. Prchal carded a 68 and a 67 over the event's final two rounds to climb atop the leaderboard.
This will be Prchal's second trip to an NCAA regional, as he and the rest of the 2013 Tigers won the Ivy League team title two years ago and played in the Washington State-hosted regional in Pullman, Washington.
If Prchal can finish as the top player not on one of the top five teams at the end of play at the three-day, three-round event May 14-16, he will gain admission to the NCAA Championship hosted by South Florida beginning May 29. Seventy-five players will compete in the Yale-hosted regional, with 14 teams and five individuals assigned to the site.
The Course at Yale is a familiar one for Princeton, as the program has played an event there in three of the past four years. Prchal played in one of those tournaments, turning in rounds of 73 and 82 in the two-round, one-day Yale Spring Opener on April 6, 2013.
