SPRING CHAT Pt. 1: THE OFFENSE
In the second part of our annual Spring Chat with Bob Surace, the Charles W. Caldwell Jr. '25 Head Coach of Football, we look at the development — and some of the positional movements — within the Princeton defense.
While the loss of Ivy League Defensive Player of the Year Mike Zeuli will be a significant one, Princeton returns plenty of experience in all three areas. Underclassmen Ty Desiré and Kurt Holuba continue to develop into an exciting tandem of defensive ends, while Rohan Hylton was one of the Ivy League's leading tacklers last season.
The defensive backfield also returns several multiple-year starters, including Anthony Gaffney; Surace noted Gaffney's play as being one of the big highlights of the spring, and he also discusses some options at the safety position.
This is the second of four video interviews with Coach Surace during May. Last week, he broke down the offense, including the development of the quarterback position; you can watch that video by clicking the link at the top of this release. In the middle of the month, GoPrincetonTigers.com will announce the Class of 2019, with video interviews from Surace on recruits from both sides of the ball.
