Catching Up with Baseball Alum Matt Bowman
July 15, 2015 | Baseball
GoPrincetonTigers.com recently caught up with Princeton baseball alum Matt Bowman, who has reached the AAA level in pursuit of a place in the major leagues.
Bowman, twice an All-Ivy League pick during his three-season career with the Tigers, was drafted by the New York Mets in the 13th round of the 2012 draft. Since then, the D.C.-area native has risen quickly through the minor league ranks, arriving at the Mets' AAA affiliate in Las Vegas during the 2014 season and starting the current campaign there as well.
Bowman is one of seven Tigers currently in the minor leagues along with the program's four major leaguers, David Hale (Colorado), Ross Ohlendorf (Texas), Will Venable (San Diego) and Chris Young (Royals). Along with Bowman, the six other Tiger minor leaguers include Danny Barnes (AA Toronto - New Hampshire), Mike Fagan (A Oakland - Beloit, Wis.), Mike Ford (A New York Yankees - Tampa), Alec Keller (A - Washington, Potomac, Va.), Jack Murphy (AA Toronto - New Hampshire) and Tyler Servais (A Detroit, Connecticut).
In the video, which can be viewed here or by clicking on the photo above, Bowman talks about developing his career at Princeton, returning to campus to pursue his degree, sticking close with the Princeton baseball program and the goal of making baseball's highest level.
