Men's Tennis Opens Porsche Napa Valley Classic

A split of singles matches opened play Friday for the Princeton men's tennis team at the Porsche Napa Valley Classic at Meadowood in St. Helena, California.
Alex Day and Luke Gamble were winners in singles play Friday with doubles matches still to come Friday evening. Day beat ITA 86th-ranked Elliott Orkin of Florida while Luke Gamble defeating USTA Juniors player Brian Shi.
The Tigers concluded the afternoon with a pair of doubles wins, Kial Kaiser and Josh Yablon defeating USTA Juniors players William Howell and Danny Thomas and Day and Gamble winning over Michael Genender and David Hsu from Stanford.
Princeton's four players are in four-man groups in which each will play the other three players in their draw with the draw winner competing with the other seven group winners for a wild card spot in a USTA Pro Circuit Futures or Challenger event.
Saturday's play will begin at 1 p.m. ET.
