RESULTS
STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. (1/29/16) - The Princeton women's track & field team won its second consecutive HYP title and sixth title in the last seven years at Ocean Breeze Park on Friday afternoon.
The Tiger accumulated 90 points, while Harvard was second with 62 and Yale third with 28.The team won nine of 17 events, including: the 500, 800, 1000, 3000, 4x400, high jump, pole vault, long jump and weight throw.
Senior Taylor Morgan personally earned the team 13 points by winning the high jump and long jump, while finishing second in the shot put. She cleared 1.70 to win the high jump and jumped a PR of 5.60 in the long jump. Morgan was the runner-up in the shot put with a toss of 12.46.
Backing up Morgan in those events was a second-place finish by senior Sara Ronde in the long jump at 5.54, third-place finish by senior Kerry Krause in the high jump at 1.60 and a third-place finish by sophomore Kennedy O'Dell in the shot at 12.38.
Adding to the success in the field events were wins in the weight throw and pole vault. Senior Brielle Rowe won won the weight with a PR of 16.55 with O'Dell second at 16.01, as the two Tigers were the only two to throw beyond 16 meters.
Junior Allison Harris won the pole vault at 4.10, the only athlete to clear four meters. She improved on her PR for the second consecutive meet after reaching 4.05 at the Tiger Open. Harris also led the team in the 60 hurdles, taking second at 8.78. Five Tigers qualified for the eight-person final and went 2-3-4 with freshman Ellie Randolph second at 8.86 and sophomore Maia Craver fourth at 8.97 for six more team points.
Four more points came in the triple jump from freshman Kerri Davidson taking second at 11.86 and junior Alexandra Lanzafame fourth at 11.27.
Senior Meghan McMullin won the 500 for the second consecutive season it has been contested. She posted a 1:15.76 for the win while freshman Carly Bonnet was second at 1:16.21.
Senior Cecilia Barowski won the 800 at 2:05.85, more than three seconds in front of the rest of the competition.
Princeton went 1-2-4 in the 1,000 led by the 2:52.75 of junior Katie Hanss. Junior Zoe Sims was two hundreths of a second behind at 2:52.85, while freshman Alie Fordyce was 2:53.51.
Another victory came in the 3,000 as freshman Brighie Leach posted a time of 9:33.28.
Sophomore Christina Walter clocked PRs in both the 60 dash and the 200. She was the runner-up in the 200 at 25.11, and third in the 60 at 7.70. Also earning a point in the 200 was Ronde with a fourth-place showing of 25.87.
Junior Elisa Steele and sophomore Mattie Baron went 3-4 in the 400 to pick up three points. Steele ran 57.75 while Baron clocked 57.82
The Tigers claimed places 2-5 in the mile to take six more points. Junior Lizzie Bird was the runner-up at 4:39.32, a PR, followed by junior Ally Markovich at 4:53.02, sophomore Melinda Renuart at 4:54.69 and sophomore Delaney Miller at 4:55.20.The 4x400 of Barowski, Bonnet, Steele and McMullin bested Harvard by two hundreths of a second to win the relay, 8:49.30 to 8:49.50.
