Princeton Women's Basketball and Athletes Helping Athletes, Inc. teamed up to welcome four honorary captains to Jadwin Gymnasium on Sunday afternoon. Click on the video above to see how Kevin, Jake, Matt, and Michael helped propel the Tigers to a 79-55 win over Hampton in their non-conference finale.
Senior forward Alex Wheatley, who had worked with Athletes Helping Athletes as a student at Council Rock South High School, was instrumental in orchastrating the event.
"I give Alex Wheatley all the credit in the world," said Princeton head coach Courtney Banghart. "She had reached out to me and mentioned how important this was to her. In perfect Alex fashion, she gave me a whole detailed approach to how it would work, and it worked even better than we planned."
Founded in 2002, the mission of Athletes Helping Athletes, Inc. is to connect local special needs athletes with mainstream student-athletes in a spirit of friendship for their mutual benefit and inspiration. Sunday's event at Princeton marked the first endeavor in New Jersey and with a Division I program for the Pennsylvania-based organization.
