Princeton Baseball In The Pros: Barnes, Blue Jays Move On To ALCS
October 14, 2016 | Baseball
PRINCETON, N.J. – For the second straight season, the Princeton Tigers will be represented in the American League Championship Series (ALCS) as the Toronto Blue Jays will take on the Cleveland Indians beginning with game one tonight at 8 p.m. on TBS.
While not on the Blue Jays' ALCS roster, Danny Barnes remains on the team's 40-man roster and is an option if roster adjustments are needed. Last season, Chris Young '02 helped the Kansas City Royals to the 2015 World Series title.
After winning the American League Wildcard game over the Baltimore Orioles, behind a three-run walk-off home run from Edwin Encarnacion, the Blue Jays' offense raced out to 22 runs in a three-game sweep over the Rangers in the American League Division Series (ALDS). Barnes was moved to the active roster for game three of the ALDS, but did not make an appearance.
It's been fantastic year for Princeton baseball at the Major League level as Barnes, Young (Kansas City Royals), Matt Bowman (St. Louis Cardinals), David Hale '11 (Colorado Rockies), Ross Ohlendorf '05 (Cincinnati Reds), and Will Venable (Los Angeles Dodgers) all played in the majors.
