PRINCETON, N.J. – Senior Cat Caro scored her second consecutive hat trick as the No. 11 Princeton Tigers ran by the Towson Tigers, 8-0 at Bedford Field on Sunday afternoon.

Caro finishes the weekend with six goals and 12 points. Her 28 points this season are a career-high. Junior Ryan McCarthy added two tallies, giving her 11 this season after scoring 12 goals in her previous two years combined. Junior Lexi Quirk set a personal best with a goal and two assists (four points) while sophomore Sophia Tornetta and freshman Carlotta von Gierke each had three points. Freshman Taylor Nolan posted her first two collegiate points with two assists in the win.

McCarthy got the action started in the fifth minute. Von Gierke dribbled along the right baseline and found the junior by herself, who quickly whipped the ball into the back of the cage. Six minutes later, Caro ripped a shot by the Towson goalie Emilee Woodall off a corner.
Â
Quirk and Tornetta snapped rebound attempts into the cage four minutes apart, setting the score at 4-0. In the 26th minute, von Gierke secured her second goal of the year, smashing a pass from Nolan through.
Â
In second half, Quirk sent a backhanded shot towards the cage, but Caro deflected it in for her second tally of the contest. McCarthy snagged her second goal in the game as she dribbled the ball through a defender and drilled a shot by the goalie in the 52nd minute. Caro finished the scoring for Princeton three minutes later.
Â
The Tigers took 44 shots while holding Towson without an attempt. Towson's goalies Woodall and Megan Boyle combined for 22 saves.
