John Lovett Repeats As Ivy League Offensive Player Of The Week
October 17, 2016 | Football
For the second straight week, senior quarterback John Lovett has been named the Ivy League Offensive Player of the Week following a multi-touchdown effort in a dominant Princeton win.
Lovett, who ranks third in the FCS with 10 rushing touchdowns on the season, threw for two touchdowns and rushed for a third during the Tigers' 31-7 victory over Brown. He hit James Frusciante on scoring passes of four and seven yards, though the plays couldn't have been any different (check out the highlights below). He also ran through a pair of Brown defenders for a seven-yard score late in the first half to open a 28-0 lead.
"John continues to do some of everything for our offense, and the impact has been remarkable," head coach Bob Surace said. "While he has been productive everywhere else on the field, his efficiency in the red zone has been superb, and it has been critical in our percentage of touchdowns to field goals this season."
Over the last three games — all Princeton victories — Lovett has rushed for seven touchdowns and thrown for four, and he has accounted for at least three touchdowns in each game. In his last eight starts, dating back to the middle of the 2015 season, Lovett has had more games with at least three touchdowns accounted for (5) than with just one touchdown (1).
