PRINCETON, N.J. (10/7/16) - The Ivy League schedule resumes on Saturday, Oct. 8 when Princeton hosts Brown in the nightcap of a double header with the women's team. It's an open race in the early going of , with three ties and only one decision during opening weekend.
It's been a battle between Princeton and Brown the last few years with it being even at 1-1-3 in the last five years. Last year the teams played to a 1-1 tie in Providence with Thomas Sanner '16 scoring in the 28th minute. Brown's Jack Hagstrom knotted the game on a restart in the 86th. Princeton outshot Brown 25-13 with both teams putting seven shots on goal. The lone common opponent the teams have is Boston University. Princeton defeated BU 2-1 live on ESPNU on Sept. 16 while dropped a 2-0 game four days later to the Terriers.
Princeton is 5-3-1 after a 3-1 win over Seton Hall Wednesday night. The Tigers tied Dartmouth 1-1 in th Ivy opener last Saturday. Senior Greg Seifert had a five-point game and now leads the squad in scoring with 12 points on five goals and two assists. Freshman Benjamin Martin has six points on three goals and one assist and senior Vikram Pothuri has four points one tally and two helpers. Seven players follow with three points apiece. Senior Josh Haberman has made 34 stops on 45 shots for a 1.18 goals against average and a .756 save percentage.
The Bears are 5-4-1 overall and lost 1-0 to Providence in overtime on Wednesday night. In the Ivy opener, Brown played to a 1-1 draw at home against Columbia. Sophomore Matthew Chow and junior Nico Lozada each have nine points with Chow scoring a team-leading four goals and one assist. Lozada has two goals and a team-best five assists. Senior Nate Pomeroy follows with eight points off of three goals and two assists. Senior Erik Hanson owns every decision and has a 1.03 goals against average and a .730 save percentage. He has stopped 27 shots and allowed 10 goals.
