PRINCETON, N.J. (11/3/16) - The eight member Class of 2016 will be honored on Saturday, Nov. 5 as the Princeton men's soccer team hosts Penn on Senior Day at 4 p.m.
Princeton will thank Patrick Barba, Brian Costa, Josh Haberman, Vikram Pothuri, Mark Romanowski, Greg Seifert, Steffen Seitz, Bryan Windsor as well as student coach David Goldstein prior to the game on Myslik Field at Roberts Stadium.
ABOUT PRINCETON
Princeton is 7-7-1 on the season and 1-3-1 in the Ivy League after defeating Cornell 2-1 last Saturday. Senior Greg Seifert scored both goals against the Big Red to increase his lead in the Ivy League points race to 25 and in goals with 11. If he continues this pace this would be the third straight season Princeton would have the Ivy League's leading scorer. Freshman Benjamin Martin follows with eight points on three goals and two assists, while senior Vikram Pothuri has seven points on two goals and three assists. Sophomore Sean McSherry and senior Mark Romanowski add six points apiece. In goal, senior Josh Haberman is 6-6-1 with a 1.55 goals against average and a .687 save percentage. Freshman Jacob Schachner has played the last three games and owns a 0.98 GAA and a .714 save percentage in 184 minutes of action.
ABOUT PENN
Penn is 5-5-5 overall and 3-2 in the league with wins over Brown, Yale and Cornell to sit in fourth in the league standings. The Quakers posted losses to both Columbia and Dartmouth and have yet to face Harvard. Alec Neumann leads the team in scoring with 17 points with a team-best eight goals and one assist. Sam Wancowicz adds 10 points on four goals and two assists, and Dami Omitaomu and Matt Poplawski have each scored three times and add one assist. Etan Mabourakh has started in 13 of 15 games and has a 1.36 GAA and a .730 save percentage.
Penn has a slight 47-44-9 edge in the 102-year series. The Tigers however have won the last two straight, including a 2-0 decision last season in Philadelphia as Brendan McSherry '16 and Thomas Sanner '16 scored within four minute of each other, while Haberman made four saves in the win.
